The New World Order of Druids, NWOOD, follows the initiatic currents from Robert Wentworth Little, George Watson MacGregor-Reid, as well as modern esoteric currents. We are an initiatic order offering the three usual degrees of Bard, Ovate, and Druid. We only offer in person initiations. We are a small order centered in Kentucky with Groves in a few other states. Until we expand, initiation will likely involve travel for interested parties.
NWOOD speaks specifically to those who are within the modern commercially driven world of present day America. There is much talk about the ‘re-enchantment’ of the world. If you have grown up in urban, or even worse, suburban America, nearly everything in your world is prefabricated, paved, and sectioned off into gas stores and strip malls: an endless sameness of bland architecture with faux stone and vinyl siding lit by overly bright LED flood lights. Your food comes neatly wrapped in colorful garbage.
This is Anywhere America.
It isn’t the world that needs re-enchantment.
IT IS US.
Yet Another Druid Order?
A great many in the Americas are of Celtic heritage, but being born in Anywhere, America, has left us cut off from the natural world, each other, and ourselves. Unless one can travel, going back to the Isles of your ancestors isn’t a viable option. In answer to this festering discontection, NWOOD will not appropriate the practices and appearal of the First Peoples of Turtle Island. We must find our own path to reconnect to our Mother. The Druid Revival provides a time tested path to reclaim our indigenous communal connections with Earth, our Mother, and to cultivate and share in Her Goodness. We respect our Universalist roots. The Earth and the Universal Light are the individual right of each unique human being that is born to this world, regardless of race, sex, or nationality.
There is Peace.
Work of the Bard
Learn to sit with nature. Just be with Her. Learn her cycles through the Wheel of the Year, and Wheel of the Day. Journey through the four elements, the Earth Heart and Sun Heart. Begin to know you are a Child of Light with your own expression of Awen.
